Valentine’s was a while ago but I thought I would share this story with everyone.  Andy loves when Valentine’s Day comes around because I bring home all of the candy my students have given me and he loves the sugar rush of eating it all. However, he was a little disappointed this year because most of my students remembered that I can’t have sugar and so I got lots of nick-nacks instead of candy.   Anyway Andy was trying out the candy I did bring home and was horrified when he tried a Garfield Fruit Pop sucker. He couldn’t believe the taste. He had me take a lick and I agreed it tasted like CHEESE! Who wants a cheese sucker? Andy went as far as washing the sucker off under water and trying to get others to taste it.   No one would.  So if you want a cheese sucker be on the look out for Garfield.

We’re Back

It has been a while since our last post. Luckily I can say we haven’t just been sitting around. We do have some fun things to report on during this time. First Andy run his first 10 K with his friend Joel. It was so much fun to watch them run across the finish line. Their finishing time was 1:11:12. This turned out to be about a 12 min. mile. They were very excited since they hadn’t run more than 2 miles at a time before.

Over the Easter weekend we hiked Angel’s Landing in Zion with Ryan and Danna. I’m glad I can say that I have hiked it but I will probably never do it again. I realized just how much I don’t like heights. I had heard about places on the trail that you can use chains. However I didn’t realize that the last 1/2 mile was almost all cliff. I didn’t let go of the chains. I’m sure people were rolling their eyes at me as I slid down on my bum as we headed back down from the top.

After hiking Angel’s Landing we met up with the Barton slide of the family for our traditional red rock picnic. We have been going to the red rocks for Easter as long as I can remember. Because of all of the new developments this was probably our last time going. Every year the houses get closer and closer. The road leading the way is no longer a small dirt road that we would pass two or three times as we searched for our hidden Oasis. It is now clearly marked by houses. However, it was fun to see everyone and catch up with what is going on in their lives. I missed having my mom and dad’s smiling faces there.
